TNCC- Instructor Next Class: June 23, 2010 (8:00am-5:30pm) Fee: $150 CECH: 7.5 hrs
Course Description: The TNCC-I (Instructor course) is a one-day course designed to prepare providers to become TNCC instructors. The course emphasizes appropriate teaching strategies as well as correct evaluation methods.
Learners will demonstrate their ability to lecture, teach, and evaluate selected psychomotor skill stations when successfully completing the course. The learner is recognized as an instructor candidate. To become fully recognized, the instructor candidate must be successfully evaluated by a current member of the Trauma Nursing Committee International Faculty member who is a TNCC instructor, designee, or International Faculty member. Instructor candidates must reverify as a TNCC provider at the course in which they are being evaluated as an instructor.
Recognition Requirements: 1. Receive recommendation of a course director. 2. Submit resume documenting two years of Emergency department/Trauma experience 3. Attend an instructor course (one-day). a. Complete the Provider Multiple Choice Examination with a minimum score of 90%. b. Be evaluated presenting a "micro-teach" lecture assignment. c. Review skill stations. 4. Be mentored teaching/testing in a Provider course (two-days). a. Be evaluated teaching a LECTURE in a Provider course. b. Be evaluated TEACHING one SKILL STATION in a Provider course. c. Be evaluated teaching the remaining skills stations to a simulated group.
d. Be evaluated TESTING a skill station in a Provider course.
Verification: The instructor candidate must complete verification requirements within 12 months of successfully completing the instructor course. Continued verification of instructor status is dependant upon participation as an instructor in at least one course every 18 months and maintaining an average quality assurance score of 3.0 or greater.
***An ENPC (Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course) instructor who is "bridging" must attend at minimum, the two-hour skill station review section of the instructor course. The bridging instructor must have a current provider status in the course he/she is bridging to, and must be a current instructor in the other course.
